Today, along with IBM, we are excited to announce the general availability of Anaconda for Linux on Z and LinuxONE. Anaconda on Linux on Z and LinuxONE is our latest step toward expanding the availability of key open-source data science tools across platforms and improving the experience for practitioners everywhere.
With this collaboration, existing IBM Z and LinuxONE users can now deploy their data science workflows while using the tools and frameworks they’re used to, such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, and more. This gives data scientists, data engineers, and application developers a platform for their most sensitive and critical machine learning workloads, and the ability to run data science where their mission-critical data and processes already live, and spans training and production deployments across Linux on Z, LinuxONE, and through zCX (z/OS Container Extensions) for z/OS.
According to our 2020 State of Data Science survey, one of the significant roadblocks to moving models to a production environment is having access to compute resources. With nearly 50% of an individual’s job spent on data loading and data cleansing, their hardware must be capable of running workloads in a timely and efficient manner. Additionally, security is of the utmost importance, with 30% of survey responses saying they are not securing their open-source pipeline.
IBM Z and LinuxONE provide a platform for the most sensitive and critical machine learning workloads by leveraging on-chip pervasive encryption, full isolation of workloads, and extremely high system availability to ensure safe and continuous delivery. In conjunction with the co-location of key business processes and data, IBM Z and LinuxONE enable secure and consistent low-latency inference embedded in mission-critical workloads to adhere to stringent SLAs and throughput requirements while allowing the infusion of cutting-edge data science techniques.
Anaconda opens the door to incorporate industry-standard tools and frameworks to be the ideal platform for sensitive data and critical applications.
IBM Z and LinuxONE customers can start using Anaconda Individual Edition¹ and Anaconda Commercial Edition today by downloading the Individual Edition or Miniconda installer and following the associated installation documentation (Individual Edition, Miniconda).
