New Release: Miniconda 24.11.1
Team Anaconda
We are excited to announce the 24.11.1 release of Miniconda, Anaconda’s miniature version of the Anaconda Distribution installer. It includes:
- Python – the most widely used programming language for artificial intelligence, data science and machine learning
- conda – the open-source, cross-platform package and environment manager
Miniconda is free to download, easy to install, and comes with free community support. The installer is pre-configured to access Anaconda’s public package repositories that include over 33,000 open-source AI, data science, and machine learning packages across seven different platforms.

Enhanced User Insights: Telemetry Feature
A new Anaconda telemetry plug-in (conda-anaconda-telemetry) has been added that captures anonymous data on package installation and searches. Anonymous telemetry data is collected for the following commands: conda create, conda install, and conda search. This update is designed to help us understand how Anaconda users interact with conda environments and packages, enabling us to enhance the tools and resources you rely on every day. You can read more about this feature in the Anaconda documentation and the blog post announcement.
Uninstallation improvements
We’ve enhanced Miniconda’s uninstallation steps to ensure a more thorough and reliable cleanup of all installed files. Advanced options allow users to precisely control the removal of specific file types across Windows, Linux, and MacOS systems, including:
- .condarc configuration files
- Data files in %USERPROFILE%\.conda on Windows or $HOME/.conda on macOS/Linux
- Cache files
These options provide users with granular control over the software removal process.
On Windows
The uninstaller now correctly de-registers environments and runs comprehensive uninstallation logic. An “Advanced uninstallation options” page allows users to specify which types of files and directories to remove.
On MacOS and Linux
Previously, MacOS and Linux users lacked a dedicated uninstaller. Now, you can easily remove Miniconda using a simple terminal command (when installed in your $HOME directory):
~/miniconda3/uninstall.sh
Advanced uninstall options can be specified via additional arguments to the command.
