2023-06-15: OpenSSL 3 Support
We have made significant progress in providing OpenSSL 3 support for our packages, with approximately 70% of them already built and compatible. We aim to fully support OpenSSL 3 across all supported architectures by the end of June 2023. Notable packages, including Python versions 3.8, 3.9, 3.10, and 3.11, curl, git, wget, python’s cryptography, dask, and distributed, are fully supported.
OpenSSL 1.1.1 will discontinue on September 11, 2023. To provide you with the best experience, we will sunset older OpenSSL versions in phases. Until the end of support of OpenSSL 1.1.1, we will continue to provide support for both OpenSSL 3 and OpenSSL 1.1.1 package builds. Any package build that encounters issues with OpenSSL 1.1.1 will solely use OpenSSL 3. We are particularly attentive to any Python versions (and cryptography) that encounter difficulties with OpenSSL 1.1.1, and we are committed to resolving them promptly. While most packages will transition to OpenSSL 3, a few exceptions, such as xar, xar-bootstrap, mysql-connector-c, lighttpd, mongo 4.x, and salt, will not be built for OpenSSL 3 due to deprecated upstream support. We will upgrade R packages to OpenSSL 3 in our next R update round.
Upgrade now to leverage the enhanced features and security of OpenSSL 3, ensuring a seamless and protected experience with our packages.
2023-03-16: Python 3.11 Support
Python 3.11 support is now available in repo.anaconda.com. We have built over 800 packages across all supported architectures including the following packages with python 3.11 support: numpy, pandas, scipy, scikit-learn, scikit-image, matplotlib, arrow, beautifulsoup4, and opencv.
2023-02-07: Miniconda3-23.1.0-1

2023-01-27: End of life for Windows 8.1 Support
Anaconda Distribution 2023.02 and Miniconda 23.1.0 (scheduled to be released in February 2023) will be the last installers compiled and maintained with Windows 8.1 support in light of Microsoft ending their support for Windows 8.1 on January 10, 2023. Starting mid February, 2023, Anaconda will no longer be updating, maintaining, or providing support for Windows 8.1 builds. Currently supported packages will remain available in our repository. Our recommendation is to determine the impact to your workflows, then decide if you should migrate to newer operating systems.

2022-11-03: Python CVE Fixes
Anaconda has backported a patch to fix CVE-2015-20107, which affected all (upstream) Python versions before 3.10.8. These backported patches have been applied to our Python 3.10.6; 3.9.13 and later; 3.8.13 and later; and 3.7.13 and later packages.Anaconda will release packages for Python 3.10.8, 3.9.15, 3.8.15, and 3.7.15 on 2022-11-14. These releases contain upstream fixes for CVE-2020-10735, which is known to break existing releases of packages like SymPy and Sage in certain circumstances. Anaconda has decided to release the upstream fixes as is, and users who encounter “ValueError: Exceeds the limit (4300) for integer string conversion” errors are encouraged to consult the upstream CPython documentation on “Integer string conversion length limitation” for possible workarounds.
2022-06-20: End of life for Windows 32 Support
Anaconda Distribution 2022.05 and Miniconda 4.12.0 will be the last installers compiled and maintained for win32 support in light of Microsoft ending their win32 support in May 2020. Starting June 30th, 2022, Anaconda will no longer be updating, maintaining, or providing support for win32 packages. Current win32 packages will remain available in our repository. Our recommendation is to determine the impact to your workflows, then decide if you should migrate to newer hardware or update to a newer installer.
2021-10-05: Dropping Python 3.6 builds
With this week’s release of Python 3.10, Anaconda will stop building Python 3.6 packages on a regular basis. Python 3.6 reaches end of life on December 2021, and we decided to end our support slightly early to focus resources on our Python 3.10 migration. This decision aligns with similar ones made by other major projects, including NumPy, SciPy, and conda-forge.
2021-06-22: Dropping CentOS 6/glibc 2.12 support
As part of today’s update to GCC 7.5 as the default compiler for linux-64 packages, Anaconda has formally dropped support for the CentOS 6 system ABI (and more specifically, glibc 2.12), as we previously announced. Moving forward, compiled linux-64 packages will require glibc 2.17 or later (i.e., the CentOS 7 system ABI) be installed on the user’s system; this requirement is being enforced by a “__glibc >=2.17” run dependency in the GCC runtime library packages (libgcc-ng, libstdcxx-ng, libgfortran-ng).CentOS 6 reached end of life on November 30, 2020. The glibc 2.17 requirement should be compatible with all actively supported, major Linux distributions, including CentOS/RHEL, Debian, Ubuntu, and openSUSE.
