As part of Anaconda’s deep and ongoing commitment to our communities, Anaconda, Inc. (“Anaconda“) is proudly committed to supporting Eligible Non-Profit and Research Organizations in their mission by providing discounted access to the Anaconda Platform through its Non-Profit and Research Program (the “Program“).
This Non-Profit and Research Policy (the “Policy“) outlines eligibility criteria, benefits, application process, and terms governing participation in the Program.
1. Definitions
Capitalized terms used but not defined in this Policy shall have the meanings given to them in Anaconda’s Terms of Service.
2. Eligibility Criteria
2.1 Eligible Non-Profit and Research Organizations
To qualify for Anaconda’s Non-Profit and Research Program, the organization you are using the Anaconda Platform or Offerings on behalf of must meet one of the following criteria to be considered an Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization:
An “Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization” means:
- A 501(c)(3) or equivalent nonprofit organization in good standing and with annual revenue under $1 billion USD;
- An internationally recognized nonprofit or charitable organizations in good standing under their respective national laws (such as registered charities, foundations, associations, and NGOs) with annual revenue under $1 billion USD;
- A research organization with annual revenue under $1 billion USD, including any entity, group, or institution primarily engaged in conducting, funding, or disseminating research, analysis, or studies;
- A healthcare organization with annual revenue under $1 billion USD;
- A non-profit organization that is not an Ineligible or Research Non-Profit Organization (as defined below); or
- A non-profit organization otherwise deemed by Anaconda to be eligible under this Policy.
2.2 Ineligible Non-Profit and Research Organizations
An organization that is not eligible for the Program is an “Ineligible Non-Profit or Research Organization” even if such organization meets the criteria for eligibility in Section 2.1 of this Policy. Organizations that are ineligible may still qualify for special pricing benefits as listed in Section 3.1 of this policy.
An “Ineligible Non-Profit or Research Organization” means:
- A 501(c)(3) nonprofit or equivalent organization in good standing and with annual revenue over $1 billion USD;
- Educational institutions (as they may qualify instead under our Academic Policy)
- Research organizations with annual revenue over $1 billion USD, including any entity, group, or institution primarily engaged in conducting, funding, or disseminating research, analysis, or studies;
- Research programs, departments, or projects conducted within or by for-profit companies, even if such research is designated for non-commercial purposes. This includes any research initiatives operating under the umbrella of a for-profit entity regardless of the stated purpose or use of such research. Note that individuals affiliated with Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organizations conducting legitimate non-commercial research remain eligible, even if collaborating with corporate partners, provided the research is primarily conducted under the authority or management of the Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization;
- Healthcare organizations with annual revenue over $1 billion USD;
- Private foundations, including grant-making, independent, or operating foundations;
- Government or government-affiliated institutions, national or international, including (but not limited to):
- Intergovernmental research institutions;
- National laboratories that are government-funded or government-affiliated research institutions conducting scientific, technological, or engineering research in support of national interests;
- Defense and military research organizations;
- Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs);
- The United States Department of Energy National Laboratories; or
- Any organization that Anaconda deems, in its sole discretion, as not applicable or eligible under this Policy.
2.3 Verification of Eligibility
Anaconda reserves the right to verify your organization’s eligibility for this Program. Upon request from Anaconda, participating Eligible Non-Profit and Research Organizations shall provide:
- A copy of their official non-profit or charitable status documentation from the relevant governing authority in their country or jurisdiction, such as a registration certificate, tax exemption document, or recently filed annual financial statement required by their national regulatory body; AND
- A brief description of your organization’s mission and its intended use of Anaconda’s Platform and Offerings.
3. Program Benefits
By participating in the Program, Eligible Non-Profit and Research Organizations and their Users are entitled to:
- Free access to the Anaconda Platform and applicable Offerings (excluding any Offerings that require payment) during the Program’s term, with the associated features, services, and products (“Offerings”) that are included in a Free Plan, as listed on Anaconda’s Pricing.
- A fifty percent (50%) discount on standard pricing for a Business Plan if you choose to purchase a paid subscription; and
- A fifty percent (50%) discount on standard pricing for a PythonAnywhere plan if you choose to purchase a paid subscription.
3.1 Special Pricing for Ineligible Organizations
Ineligible Non-Profit or Research Organizations may qualify for special pricing discounts for paid Anaconda Business Plans, up to a maximum price discount of 50%, subject to Anaconda’s review of any existing agreements with Anaconda. 3.2 Previously Purchased Subscriptions
Existing organizations or users that meet the eligibility requirements of Section 2 but have a current paid Subscription from Anaconda shall:
- Have further payment requirements waived for the remainder of their current Subscription
- Contact Anaconda’s Support Team at support.anaconda.com to exercise this right
By participating in the Program, organizations shall not be entitled to any refunds for previously paid Subscription fees.
4. Program Participation Process
4.1 For Individuals
If you are an individual associated with an Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization, follow these steps:
- Read this Anaconda Non-Profit & Research Program Policy in full
- Sign the Non-Profit & Research End User License Agreement (EULA), available here.
- Continue to log in as normal under your email address that you have with your organization (if you already have an account with us); or create your account on our sign-up page, available here.
- If you would like to purchase a PythonAnywhere or Business Plan at the discounted rate set out above, please contact our User Care Team at [email protected].
4.2 For Organizations
If you represent an organization that qualifies as an Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization and are interested in securing an organization-wide agreement:

- Have your users continue to log in as normal under their email address that they have with your organization (if they already have an account with us); or have them create an account on our sign-up page, available here.
5. Program Term and Conditions
5.1 Program Term
Free access to the Program benefits is valid for twelve (12) months from:
- An individual signing the Non-Profit & Research End User License Agreement (EULA), or
- An organization signing the Non-Profit & Research Organization Agreement
5.2 Maintaining Eligibility
Organizations must maintain their status as an Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization throughout the Program Term. Any material change that may affect an organization’s eligibility must be reported to Anaconda within thirty (30) days of such change.
5.3 Renewal
Annual renewal under this Program requires:
- Verification of your organization’s continued status as an Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization
- Participating individuals must re-sign the Non-Profit & Research End User License Agreement
- Participating organizations must re-sign the Non-Profit & Research Organization Agreement
Anaconda will contact participants prior to the expiration of their Program Term with renewal instructions.
5.4 Termination
Failure to comply with any of the obligations outlined in this Policy may result in termination of participation in the Program. If at any time during the Program Term we discover that an organization has falsely claimed to be an Eligible Non-Profit or Research Organization, their participation will be immediately terminated and they may be required to pay all fees that would have otherwise been charged.
5.5 Modification
Anaconda reserves the right to modify the terms of this Non-Profit and Research Policy with ninety (90) days’ notice. Notices will be posted on Anaconda’s legal page. It is the responsibility of participating organizations and individuals to review the terms of this Policy periodically to confirm if any updates have been noted.
